IN THE HAMPTONS....TODAY

Thanksgiving has come and gone. We hope yours was enjoyable. THE HAMPTONS are a little quieter now, settling into the winter season. It is a wonderful time, the crowds and traffic have subsided and one gets to have less frantic times for beach walks with the dog(s). There will also be a little surge in people and traffic during these holiday weeks...that is also a welcome occurance. The trees and lights in each village of the Hamptons bring that seasonal cheer and feelings of fellowship.
It also brings a renewed effort by most local merchants to lure and satisfy the needs and wants of their clientele......we all look forward to ending the year on this positive note.
When in The Hamptons, stop by and say hello. Happy Holidays,
Linda & Howard

SUNSET SKY OVER The HAMPTONS

There we were, another uneventful trip from the Hamptons to Bucks County via New York, with a drop stop in the city.
UNEVENTFUL?
The best event of the day was happening right before our eyes.
A BIG BEAUTIFUL Sunset. Now the skies over New York may not be as BIG as the sky over Montana, but let me tell you this day the sunset sky was BIG over Long Island, New York It was breathtakingly beautiful. It is just very soothing to know we still have a steady hand from Mother Nature (although we try to unbalance the touch of her hand).
A glorious sunset to finish our day.

THROUGH THE STORM

This was an especially stormy week just ended.
Up and down the east coast of the United States.
Across the world and beyond.
Who would think there could be such stormy conditions that we all have faced these past few weeks.
Well, Sunday ended with a clearer sky and a little sunlight here @ 2400.
Perhaps this week will be a little brighter.

NEW PLATES.
NEW STICKERS.
AND WE ARE READY TO TACKLE A NEW YEAR OF ADVENTURE ON THE ROADS OF THE U.S.A..

RELIEF @ JAKES

Forgot to say that after all the trouble of getting through the maze of traffic in New York City, we were faced with missing our dinner at Jakes.

Well everything worked out well. No delays and we arrived at the last possible moment for being served in the dining room, (rather than the bar). That was with the courtesy of Dan, who made our stop enjoyable with his wit and local humor..

thank you Dan.

TALK ABOUT TRAFFIC

WE WERE DRIVING BACK TO BUCKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA FROM THE HAMPTONS IN NEW YORK.
WE WERE DROPPING THE CHASE'S OFF AT THEIR EAST SIDE APARTMENT.
WELL WEREN'T WE IN FOR A TREAT. IT TOOK ONE HOUR TO GO FROM 53RD STREET AND THE EAST RIVER TO THE LINCOLN TUNNEL (WEST 40TH STREET AND 10TH AVENUE) WE WERE SHUNTED FROM ONE STREET OR AVENUE TO THE NEXT. STREETS BLOCKED BY THE POLICE,
CROWDS BEING DIVERTED, GOING WHERE THEY DID NOT CHOOSE TO GO. ALL THIS, I SUPPOSE SO SARAH PALIN AND HER SIDEKICK COULD SEE NEW YORK AND SPEAK TO FOREIGNERS AT THE UNITED NATIONS.
TALK ABOUT TRAFFIC, EVERYBODY HAD TO BE IN NEW YORK CITY LAST NIGHT. EVEN WE HAD TO BE THERE.
MOLLY DOG SLEPT THROUGH IT ALL.
IT'S A DOG'S LIFE

SEN'S SPICE LOUNGE

Dateline: Sag Harbor, New York, September 20, 2008
Sen, Spice Lounge.
The food was good, maybe better than that. were overpriced, but good.
The drinks
The service was not (except for the bus girl-runner).
The atmosphere noisy and reasonably uncomfortable seating.

I think we should try a take-out order. THE FOOD IS THE THING HERE.

This is only my opinion.

In times of sickness (or trouble) presrciptions for cure are thrust upon us. We certainly hope this present course of help works. The only way to find out is...to take your medicine. Maybe imbibing lots of fluids will also help get you through.
I guess we'll have to wait and see.

72 MARKET STREET MEATLOAF

Wednesday, a long day. Up in the morning (early-like 4:30 AM), drove to Philadelphia in the early afternoon. Returned to Solebury just ahead of the rush hour I-95 traffic and was rewarded with Linda's version of the famous "72 Market Street Meatloaf". Doesn't get any better than that ( well maybe there are other things that qualify). Then off again to THE HAMPTONS, picking up the Chases in New York along the way. Not much traffic and we arrived at midnight. A good day.

BEACH LANE

A FOND MEMORY OF OUR SUMMER AT THE BEACH.

ANOTHER FAVORITE IN THE HAMPTONS

WE have always enjoyed our dining experiences at Fresno. Michael Nolan makes you feel welcome and his staff is enjoyable to be around. The food is good, the wine list interesting and reasonable and that is why we have sent our client's to:
Fresno Restaurant
8 Fresno Place
East Hampton
NY 11937

P: 631.324.8700
F: 631.324.1019
E: info@fresnorestaurant.com

Veteran restauranteurs David Loewenberg and Michael Nolan teamed up to open Fresno in the spring of 2004. The New American menu emphasizes simple yet sophisticated preparations of local fare.
We will be there this weekend, hopefully.

GOOD FRIENDS AND JAKE'S

JAKE'S on route 202 south in Flemington,
New Jersey has been a favorite and often visited watering hole for many of our Antique Dealer friends.
We were faced with where to go decisions when we were planning to eat with Ronnie and Guy Weil.We pondered this problem all day. Linda said, let's have a community dinner at the Weil's.
So Ronnie spent the time and energy to clean, what is always a spotless house. Then we thought , maybe we should all go to Miels in Stockton. The Weil's would bring the wine (always a treat=Guy is so knowledgeable).
Well after all was said and done, We met at JAKE'S.

PILOT ON BOARD

Harbor Pilots guide vessels through the unfamiliar waters and rough currents every day, everywhere. You are safe wwith a river pilot or harbor pilot on board.
Ever since our Molly dog was a pup, she has seen to guiding us across the Delaware River from Stockton to Solebury. She is a little older now (almost 14)and getting a little less occupied with her piloting tasks. But today, in rough and tough times, she rose to the occasion as we crossed the bridge.

How to Close a Bag of Chips by Folding It

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

Party time calls for chips (crisps) and dip. Opening a few bags of different chips to dip is a breeze. When it comes to clean up time, we find we are left with too many opened chip bags, and not a bag clip in the house to seal them with. Leaving them partially open will make the chips stale before we get to eat them again. Fortunately, there's a way to fold the chip bag so you will never have this problem again and will keep the chips as fresh as the day you bought them.

Steps

  1. Smooth the ends so that they are smooth, flat and air tight.
  2. Use both hands and fold the open end down about an inch (2.5 cm). Do not roll.
  3. Tuck each folded end under as you keep flattening and folding once again. Continue in this manner until you reach just above the area of the chips.
  4. Flatten the fold with your hands and fold the corners towards the middle. It doesn't matter which way you fold them; here they are shown folded towards the rolled side, but you can also fold away from the roll.
  5. While keeping the corners folded, unroll the end and fold it over the corners so that it makes a tight pocket or hood holding the ends in.
  6. Check by turning the bag upside down. It is sealed and easy to open the next time you need to use it.

Video

Once you start playing this video, you can press the "slow" button on the right hand side to get a closer look at how the bag is folded.

Tips

  • Make sure that you smooth each fold, removing air from the section you are turning down.
  • The neater and tighter your folds, the fresher your chips.
  • May take practice. Keep trying (over a bowl) because this will come in handy.

Warnings

  • Leaving air inside will make the chips stale. Do not leave air inside with any bag of this type (pretzels, cereal, cookies).
  • This method will not work on pliable bags (like shopping bags). It'll work on foil and paper bags, and on some plastic bags, but only if they're very stiff.
  • Be careful when testing out your folding – you don't want your chips to end up on the floor!

1st Cut Brisket

We ended the day with one of Linda's best, POT ROAST and all the trimmings. Molly dog shared some and she said, "Wow, this is great". All night, off and on showers concluded a day in The Hamptons. I must say that when the crowds are gone it is peaceful and most enjoyable. The village, the beach the local travel (minus the traffic). The ocean was calm, considering what was happening in the Gulf of Mexico.
We look forward to a sunny Sunday, maybe.

BRIDGEHAMPTON FLORIST'S YARD SALE

We had the pleasure of our neighbor's front yard sale. The Bridgehampton Florist,
Michael and Jim set up early and just about sold out by 1:00 PM. It is a cloudy day in The Hamptons, but no rain so far. They lucked out. Molly dog made her rounds at the beach this morning and is planning her afternoon trip as I write this. It's a dog's life.

The Bridgehampton "BLOWOUT"

It was Friday the 12th of September and that is when they scheduled the made for HBO TV window blowout. We avoided the area, so we missed all the excitement, inconvenience and hoards of people, vehicles and traffic jams. The crews were provided food and beverages, so the local establishments went mostly gaining an annoying morning without the benefit of new business. Well that's the way it went.

T.G.I.F.

We welcome Friday's this time of year. We get to see clients and hopefully meet new friends and cllients. The days are growing shorter and our time at the beach with Molly dog is much appreciated. Molly has much to do on her Beach Lane beach tour. It's not easy being a dog--a lot totake care of and think about.
